Charity Project - Pet Charity Activity
01 — WHY
What is my original intention
According to the '2026 China Pet Industry White Paper', the number of dogs and cats in urban areas of China is approximately 126 million. There is no unified official national statistics on the number of stray cats and dogs. Industry organizations estimate that there are about 50 million to 53 million stray cats and approximately 40 million stray dogs.
According to the 2024 rescue case statistics of the China Small Animal Protection Association, about 63% of stray animals originated from voluntary abandonment, with the main reasons including moving house, pet illness, breeding, and behavioral problems. The number of new stray animals each year varies in estimates, and the common figure is approximately 4 million.
About 63% are abandoned by their owners voluntarily.* *Statistics on 1562 rescue cases from the China Small Animal Protection Association from January to September 2024
